About
The Venezuela project originated in late December through research done at the Altru Institute, a think tank focused on addressing society’s most complex challenges through collaboration.
We had been watching developments in Venezuela and concluded that it could become one of the most important geopolitical events in the Western Hemisphere. We gathered some thought leaders and developed the idea of a Venezuela Project, research how to facilitate the efficient rebuild of the country.
It seemed viable: a democratic tradition, a productive culture, and vast resources to fund it. The notion of the “Singapore/Switzerland” of the Americas seemed plausible — enabling the country to reach its potential and demonstrate how a democratic, free-market capitalist meritocracy can improve the lives of all citizens.
Our strategy evolved to aggregate and curate information helpful to those engaged in the rebuild, targeted at savvy investors and focused on the diaspora seeking to return to their country and be part of the rebuild.
We created Economia Venezuela as a research entity and VZ Economics as a media enterprise. Together, they offer communication and content that can make a difference — accelerating the flow of information among those who matter most in the rebuild.
A key component is the formation of Industry Councils to rebuild each sector of the economy. to bring the best and brightest from around the world (anchored by returning Venezuelans) to build strategies incorporating the most advanced technologies worldwide. Their findings put into industry sector reports in a research library to support better and faster decision-making. A “blueprint” for the country for each sector.
And a platform for quality investments to facilitate transactions and bring the best solutions. It is just a matter of organization, communication, and coordination.
