The visit of Jarrod Agen, Director of the U.S. National Energy Dominance Council, to Venezuela marks a historic turning point in bilateral relations. Arriving on the first direct commercial flight between the U.S. and Venezuela in seven years on April 30th —an American Airlines flight from Miami to Caracas.

Agen’s presence signaled the formal "restart" of connectivity and the acceleration of a new energy partnership, according to Guacamaya.

During the visit, acting Venezuelan President Delcy Rodríguez and U.S. officials oversaw the signing of major oil and gas exploration agreements with American firms,

These deals target fields in key Venezuelan states such as Anzoátegui, Monagas, and Barinas, aiming to revitalize the country's energy infrastructure and bolster its domestic electricity system using associated gas.

Agen described the rapid resumption of flights as moving at "Trump speed," reflecting a broader White House strategy to secure energy dominance and integrate U.S. investment into Venezuela’s vast reserves following last January´s removal of Nicolás Maduro.

The visit underscores a shift toward "economic revitalization," characterized by the rolling back of sanctions and the restoration of full diplomatic ties. This new era positions Venezuela as a strategic energy partner, aiming for mutual economic benefit and long-term stability in the global market.
